I Rolling Stones superano i Beatles. «L' ho scritta. - di «(I Can' t Get No) Satisfaction». Poi Beach Boys, Hendrix e U2 (7), Chuck Berry, James Brown, Prince, Led Zeppelin e Sly and the Family Stone (6). L' hanno usata tutti: Beatles, U2 («Pride - In the Name of Love»), Diana Ross, Elvis Presley, Bee Gees, Ray Charles, Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin, Joy Division, Tina Turner, Led Zeppelin.
The Rolling Stones outweigh the Beatles. And it is perhaps the first time in history. But Dylan beats all . That is the verdict of Rolling Stone, the bible of American pop-rock , which published the ranking of the 500 most beautiful songs ever. A list maddening the protagonist of High Fidelity by Nick Hornby , manic cataloger of disks ( and not only) . In the first place , then, there ' Bob Dylan " Like a Rolling Stone " dated 1965 . " I 've written . I was not wrong . It was ok . " These , all ' age, the words of the singer . According to the magazine ' there ' is a better description of the song , its structure and its execution revolutionary or that young man , just 24 years old , who created it . " After Dylan are the Rolling Stones - is no coincidence that the first two songs have something in common with the head of the music magazine ? - Of " ( I Can ' t Get No) Satisfaction ." The guitar riff that opens it , reads the review , "the point at which the shaky jumps and infatuations of youth become rock rock & roll ." In third place with John Lennon's " Imagine ," " a hymn of eternal comfort and hope that accompanied us in moments of pain from the shock of the death of Lennon himself in ' to 80 ' indescribable horror of ' September 11 ' , explain the critical . The time is a gentleman and has fixed ' wrongs ' of the public: only queens of the three songs " Satisfaction " reached number one in sales , " Like a Rolling Stone " and stopped at the second " Imagine " on the third . But there are even more blatant cases : " Blowin ' in the Wind ," always Dylan, who grabs 14th place and " London Calling " by The Clash ( 15) does not even entered in the official results . Among the other songs avenged there are for example " My Generation " by The Who that the public stopped at 74th and criticism puts all ' 11th and " Purple Haze " Hendrix (17 ° versus 65 °). No Beatles, as a group , on the podium. To see them you have to wait at number 8 where they placed " Hey Jude ." And it's a revolution. The same Rolling Stone, the ' last year , he had published the list of 500 greatest albums in the history and Paul , John , George and Ringo had been an unqualified success : first and third place ( ' Sgt Pepper ' s Lonely Hearts Club Band "and" Revolver ") and the other two discs in the top ten . But the Fab Four a rematch if they are taken . In the jukebox of history are still the largest group present with 23 songs, not to mention the presence as a solo Lennon, McCartney and Harrison. Rolling Stones (14) and Dylan (12) are kept at a safe distance . Fourth and fifth place go to black music : " What ' s Going On " by Marvin Gaye and " Respect " by Aretha Franklin, written and originally sung by Otis Redding. In sixth place , " Good Vibrations " by the Beach Boys, and " Hey Jude ," " Johnny B. Goode " by Chuck Berry, " Smells Like Teen Spirit " by Nirvana and" What I ' d Say " by Ray Charles . The jury is above all suspicion : 172 music fans among music critics ( c ' is also the director Cameron Crowe , a former journalist of the magazine) , manager of the music industry and artists such as Elvis Costello, Art Garfunkel , Joni Mitchell , Ozzy Osbourne , Joe Perry ( Aerosmith ) , Jeff Tweedy ( Wilco ) and Bryan Wilson ( Beach Boys). And , since we are in the era of music to download from the Internet , the site of Rolling Stone also offers the possibility to legally have (almost) the entire collection. The best of all time, except the Beatles and a few others that do not transfer their rights to download, to 79 cents per song . Andrea Laffranchi Beatles , Stones, Bob and Elvis For once not have the first place overall in the ranking but the Beatles are the largest group present: 23 songs (plus one each for Lennon, McCartney and Harrison) . Followed by Rolling Stones (14) and Bob Dylan (12). So Elvis Presley has 11 tracks in the 500 magnificent , but only debuted in 19th place with " Hound Dog ." Then the Beach Boys, Hendrix and U2 ( 7) , Chuck Berry, James Brown, Prince , Led Zeppelin and Sly and the Family Stone (6). The best is in the sixties The best music is focused, according to the jury , in the sixties : 204 of the 500 best songs are dated between 1960 and ' 69. From then on, a collapse that portends no good : the '70s have 142 , the denigrated ' 80 are revalued with as many as 57 songs ( Clash, Michael Jackson, Prince , U2, REM , Springsteen ) , the ' stop 90 to 21, the new Millennium 3 ( and it's all hip hop with Eminem and Outkast ) . In the past 2 tracks for the ' 40 and 71 to ' 50 . Love: in the titles he won 's love Give me three words ... In the titles won , as doubt it , 's love : love and loving are present for less than 43 times. They 've used all : Beatles, U2 ( " Pride - In the Name of Love ") , Diana Ross , Elvis Presley, Bee Gees, Ray Charles, Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin, Joy Division , Tina Turner, Led Zeppelin. So , rock or rockin (8 citations ) , babe / baby (8) , sweet ( 8) , and it works most melancholy of ' joy , rain , rain (7)
